The 2013 Auckland Regional Tree Climbing Competition will be held outside of Auckland City for the first time in more than a few years.
Following the lead set by the Wellington Region in 2012 (the 2012 Wellington Regional TCC was held in Whanganui), the Auckland Regional TCC organizing team has chosen Mander Park in Whangarei for this year's event.
Mander Park is already popular with local arborists. The NTCA held their highly successful Aerial Rescue Day there in 2012.
But Mander Park has also had its fair share of 'treework' controversy.
The Whangarei City Council came under fire early last year when several trees were removed for highway widening - no doubt the 2013 Auckland Regional TCC will provide the Whangarei City Council with an excellent public relations opportunity - having the cream of the regions arborists recreation climbing in their trees.

Serious punters should download the 2013 ITCC Rulebook - reading the ITCC Rulebook is well worth the effort if you want to compete effectively on the day.
On good authority, Treetools believes training provider Thoughtplanters are planning to hold a 'pre-comp' training day in Auckland a fortnight before the 2013 Auckland Regional for newcomers to the TCC - we will post more details as soon as they are available.
