Reigning world womens tree climbing champion Nicky Ward-Allen has stepped into the role of kiwi tree climbing ambassador with ease.
The task of talking with professional broadcasters may sound easy but things can change very quickly when you are on-air.
Have a listen to Nicky in action by clicking on this link or on the Radio NZ image below.
In this 12-minute interview Nicky managed to calmly promote our other (current) tree climbing legends, (Chrissy, James and Scott), New Zealand as the tree climbing capital of the world, the upcoming regional tree climbing competitions, the NZ Arb Association and arboriculture as a career choice - all this while answering the questions!
Prior to going on-air Radio NZ researchers used the Legends Foundation website to search for background information about our kiwi tree climbing legends.
Legends Foundation patron and current men's world tree climbing champion Scott Forrest had always planned for the 'Legends' site to act as repository for information about New Zealand tree climbing, providing mainstream media with an easy-to-access database - Scott's vision has turned out to be spot on.
