Calling all gear-o-holics out there! Get your beady little eyes onto this piece of kit from Advanced Ropeclimbing Technology. I had an interesting evening reading the manual trying to figure out exactly how the Spiderjack worked!
Thankfully Drew Bristow arrived and within minutes he had it under control - but he appeared to have his reservations when he first put load on the Spiderjack. It's described as a multi-functional ascending and descending device. The brake system is operated by the thumb and the brake face is made from a special wood with a high friction factor (it's supposed to be very wear resistant).
The brake seemed pretty senstive and could be regulated from slow to extremely fast - I suspect the Spiderjack 2 is for experienced climbers only - good for competition work. As with all kit of this calibre you'll either love it or hate it! Give me a call if you want to have a look at the Spiderjack 2 - we'll post prices next week.
