Treemagineer Mark Bridge was seen sporting one of the Benchmade Rescue7 cutters at the WEL Networks/Treemagineers Workshop in Hamilton back in August. A couple of eagle-eyed climbers spotted this unique 'knife' on Mark's harness and asked Treetools if they were available in New Zealand. They were not, but we have obliged.
The Benchmade Rescue7 is primarily designed for military and first response rescue applications. The US made Rescue7's are ultra lightweight with a uniquely-shaped safety blade that slices through webbing and rope like butter, making them ideal for tree work.
The hook blade, with its rounded nose, eliminates the chance of cutting the victim, and it offers far more precision over an open knife blade.
The Rescue7 is available from Treetools in three formats: the Rescue7 Professional, the Standard and the Basic depending on your budget and final application.
The Professional model is made from surgical grade X15-TN stainless steel which ensures superior edge retention and corrosion resistance. Both the Professional and Standard come with a nylon MOLLE compatible webbing pouch which happens to attach extremely well to harness webbing.
Have a look at the video below and you'll see why the army, police and ambulance all have the Rescue7 on their belt.
