The ITCC issued a public statement last month 'in an effort to clear up some confusion' regarding SRT. Quite the opposite has happened, climbers are now more confused than ever!
The Technical Advisory Committee statement says 'currently, there are no approved SRT systems" and that no SRT climbing systems have been submitted to the ITCC for use in this years event.
We suspect the reason no system has been submitted to the ITCC Technical Advisory Committee for approval is because SRT (for access at least) is already considered an acceptable, safe option (among others) for tree access - the wisdom of crowds in action perhaps?
The ITCC statement is not definitive in its view regarding SRT. This suggests the Technical Advisory Committee is adopting a 'wait-and-see' approach to the use of SRT at the upcoming world event in Parramata.
Meaning, a decision may be made 'on the day' to outlaw SRT.
If that is the case, climbers should start thinking about Plan B now!
