Work is underway stocking up with interesting gear for the Treetools Demo Day in Hamilton on September 19. New in this week is the DMM Yates TriLock tactical carabiner.
Made by DMM in Wales it looks very similar to other DMM carabiners: the I-beam forging in particular. According to Hamish from the Gear Shop (Yates distributor for New Zealand) its the gate mechanism that makes this carabiner different.
The 3-way gate works like the Locksafe models but the Yates has a unique patented feature that gives extra margin of side load strength - up to 8kN. Lateral strength is 28 kN.
Yates do a lot of work with military special ops and rescue organisations and this carabiner and other tactical equipment is a result of that association. The DMM Yates is available with three different gate colors - matte black, red and blue. Now you can color code your equipment according to its use - PPE, rigging, etc.
