Treetools should have Donaghys much anticipated 11.7mm climbing line, Cougar Blue, available for sale by the end of the week.
This new rope is based on Donaghys existing Cougar line with a few tweaks developed by Grant Cody and current world champion tree climber Scott Forrest.
The weave on the new rope appears slightly tighter and it has a different 'feel' to the original Cougar.
Construction is traditional double braid with an abrasion resistant HT Polyester cover for improved grip and prussic compatibility according to its developer Grant Cody. Average break strength is 28kN.
Couger Blue will not milk and offers a very low elongation so it should appeal to SRT Work Positioners using the Rope Wrench or the Unicender, as well as those climbing on a traditional doubled system (friction hitch or mechanical).
Scott Forrest, currently touring the country, is climbing on Cougar Blue.
