Many tree climbing parents (and uncles) want to get the kids into the trees - safely! Most of the kids climbing harnesses on the market are designed for the rock climbing market (ie top rope only) making the tie-in points less than ideal for tree climbing.
The Edelrid Joker Junior was developed for the outdoor education market and is specifically designed to accommodate the higher center of gravity specific to children.
When combined with the Edelrid Joker Freetop chest harness you can be sure the kids are safe while descending or if they take a fall. The higher tie-in point ensures the kids don't flip over if they fall. (Flip over occurs if the harness tie-in is set too low or is allowed to 'float').
This Edelrid Joker Junior harness is an entry level harness to get your kids started in the sport of tree climbing. Once they get proficient in the tree they will want to progress to a harness with side D-rings.
The NTCA (Northland Tree Climbers Association) are developing a kids tree climbing harness, in association with Aspiring Enterprises in Christchurch, which will have side D-rings so that kids can lanyard in as they climb.
The NTCA harness is still in early develop stage but when ready for launch will provide the next step for your kids.
