Arb Climber publishers didn't quite meet the October deadline for their first issue but the wait has not diminished the quality. The digital copy of Arb Climber is available now for download from their website and Treetools will have magazine hard copies available in-store early next year.
The first issue of Arb Climber is packed with product information, gear reviews and in-depth tree climbing related articles.
These include Aerial Rescue (Part One) with Josephine Hedger and Ade Scott, Rope Tricks with Jeff Jepson, Severed Fingers with Steve Daly and Rob Keating, the Rope Wrench with Kev Bingham and a comprehensive market guide for arborist harnesses to name a few.
There is also an excellent article on One Hand vs Two Hands chainsaw use by Thomas Amorim which should raise a few eye brows.
The concern most readers have with 'trade rags' is the potential for the publishers to pander to the advertisers by writing unrealistic gear reviews or, even worse, regurgitate PR content from company media departments.
Thankfully, that is not the case with Arb Climber.
Magazine editor Ade Scott manages to find the right balance between objectivity and subjectivity with a mix of humor and bluntness which adds to the fun (this will be appreciated by tree climbers we are certain).
If the editorial content continues in this style, Arb Climber will quickly establish itself as another credible source for industry information and comment.
Well done Arb Climbers - an excellent first issue!
