A 300m meter ascent on rope in extremely harsh conditions is not everybody's idea of fun!
Well… that depends! If you have the ActSafe Ascender it might not be such a problem (in theory at least).
Treetools had a very brief conversation with Drew Bristow this afternoon. He had just landed in New Zealand, following the successful filming expedition with Geoff Mackley to the Marum Volcano.
Drew (along with Johno Smith) are the first two human beings to set foot on the floor of the Marum Volcano crater. To help them ascend out of the pit they used the ActSafe Ascender powered by a 50cc Honda engine. Apparently, these units are better than you can imagine!
There are not many trees where the ActSafe might be required but they certainly sound ideal for other rope access situations.
Expect to hear more about these units in mainstream media over the next few months (but you heard it first on Treetools).
