NZAA TCC official score keep, Neal Harding has been working hard on a New Zealand tree climbing ranking system (similar to international tennis rankings) and the end result of all this work is available now on the NZAA website.
The rankings are calculated using a number of different criteria including results from the International Tree Climbing Competition. It's a ranking for climbers who climb IN New Zealand, not necessarily New Zealand tree climbers.
Men are listed as the Top 20 tree climbers in New Zealand and women the Top 5, currently led by James Kilpatrick and Chrissy Spence consecutively (as expected).
Almost without realizing it, Neal has created a monster here!
Before very long companies will start referring to Neal's ranking for job applications. This will be particularly important in the contract tree climbing market which is developing at-a-pace in Auckland. If you are not in the Top 20 you will not be able to command top dollar - end-of-story.
If your name is not on the list - start training now - Pro Climb's 'Introduction to Modern Tree Climbing' would be a good start or get along to Matt Glen's 'Open Masters Challenge' to see what the competition is up to.
New Zealand's No 1 tree climber, James Kilpatrick in action.
