The ART Spiderjack is not a common sight at New Zealand tree climbing comps. The sensitive German-made device takes some getting used to - perhaps kiwi climbers are just too impatient!
Australian climber, Joe Harris (famous for his work with VTIO and Into Trees) has put in the time and mastered the Spiderjack. It's obviously worth the effort - what a pleasure to watch him climb - see YouTube video below.Note Joe's full use of the two-to-one mechanical advantage in the DbRT system and his smooth tending of slack - that is apart from the magnificent, controlled swings.
