Petzl has announced a recall of the newly launched GriGri 2. This follows the discovery that excessive force on the fully extended handle causes it to remain stuck in the open position.
When the GriGri 2 handle is stuck in the 'open' position the assisted breaking function is disabled increasing the risk of uncontrolled descent.
If you own a Petzl GriGri 2 with a serial number starting between 10326 and 11136 stop using it immediately and get hold of the Petzl's NZ Distributor, Spelean (NZ) Limited on 03 434 9535 or email them on grigri2@petzl.co.nz
The previous generation Petzl GriGri works perfectly, the recall only relates to the new GriGri 2. Treetools has not sold any Petzl GriGri 2.
