The major arb and tree climbing suppliers are all making noises about likely price increases during 2011 - so be prepared!
Buckingham, Yale and Jameson from the USA and DMM Wales have already supplied 2011 prices lists effective April, 2011 and all reflect reasonably significant price increases.
These costs include raw material, energy, wages bills and general overhead. From a strategic perspective, most suppliers had deliberately 'absorbed'the increasing costs and held pricing in the wake of the 'recession'. There comes a time when something has to give.
On top of these likely prices increases, the kiwi has taken a dive against the major players like the US dollar, Sterling and the Euro.
But let's face it, we have not had a bad run! Prices for climbing, rigging, pruning and safety gear have remained relatively stable, and in some caseseven dropped, over the last few years. Perhaps the golden summer is over?
