Customers looking for Razorback forestry loppers often get confused with exactly what brand they are buying!
Gisborne Stone, Haumi Lopper or Razorback?Doug Bell, the Razorback manufacturer thought it would be helpful if we finally got the story right. The Razorback started its life over 18 years ago.'Stone' refers to Tom Stone, a Gisborne forestry contractor who helped with the initial design and 'Haumi' to Haumi Traders who were the original distributers. These different names confused the market so one name was settled on 5 years ago - the Razorback lopper (after Doug's toolmaking business in Gisborne). The Razorback is possibly the best forestry lopper on the market and one of our most popular units: bolts are forged 4140 steel, and the blades are highcarbon alloy steel (each blade has a number stamped on it - this is the batch number for heat treatment and provides an quality audit trial for Doug andhis team).
The anvil (or hook blade) is heat treated, semi-annealed high strength, wear resistant steel. Doug uses special techniques and tooling for working withsteel in this state. The blade and anvil are adjusted by the fine pitch bolt and lock nut (no tab washers required unlike other forestry loppers). Allparts are replaceable - you won't go wrong with this forestry lopper and it will last a lifetime if used correctly.
