Stein Safety plan to launch a range of chainsaw protective boots. As with all things Stein, the design team have listened to what arborists have to say about working boots.
The Stein Explorer, Discovery and Quest GTX all sport rubber toecap protection (over the steel toecap) which is missing on some of the other European boots sold in New Zealand. Without this type of protection the toe leather damages quickly. All the boots in the range have waterproof linings, either in Sympatex of WindTex, both of which offer a breathable membrane to keep the feet dry and warm - but too hot.
If you spend most of your day in climbersyou'll be pleased with the steel mid-sole shank in these boots. The steel shank spreads your body-weight load right across the sole of your foot ratherthan concentrating it on the bar of the climbers. The 'mid' sole shank (rather than full shank) is also more comfortable for everyday use.All boots in the range have a steel toecap and roller bearing eyelets for speed lacing. The Explorer and Discovery are Class 2 (24 meters per secondsto stop) and the Quest GTX is Class 1 (20 meters per second to stop).
The Stein Quest GTX is manufactured from genuine 3mm Perwanger leather - Perwanger have been producing super high quality boot leather in South Tyrolsince 1780.
Pricing for the Stein range of chainsaw protective boots is yet to be confirmed but it will be competitive with other boots of this quality. Availableis sizes 40-47.
