The NZAA Taranaki Open organizers have a Stratford tree tour planned for climbers who arrive early for the Open Tree Climbing Competition and Taranaki mountain climb over Waitangi Weekend.
The Friday 4 February Stratford tree tour involves a visit to several trees listed in Burstall and Sale's 1984 book Great Trees of New Zealand including the world's largest cultivated Magnolia campbellii .
Great Trees of New Zealand is a classic tree book and now relatively hard to find. If you can lay your hands on a copy, buy it immediately - it will be well worth the investment. If you can't locate a copy Treetools has one for viewing in store.
The official 2011 NZAA Taranaki Open Entry Form and Waiver is available for download now . Pencil in the NZAA Taranaki Open and mountain climb to your 2011 calendar and make sure you are in Stratford over Waitangi Weekend!
